Business Formation Assistance
The launch paperwork, in order, without the guesswork
Starting a business in Florida is not hard — it's just scattered. Sunbiz here, the IRS there, a county business tax receipt, a bank that wants documents you haven't filed yet, and a domain someone should have bought last month. We organize the sequence, sit with you while you do it, and make sure nothing gets skipped.
We are not attorneys or accountants and we don't pretend to be. What we do is administrative and educational: the checklist, the order of operations, the setup, and the follow-through.
Why this matters
The first month decides how the next three years feel
Almost every owner we meet who is frustrated with their books, their bank, or their taxes can trace it back to a shortcut taken in week one. Money mixed into a personal account. A business name filed that doesn't match the domain, which doesn't match the Google listing, which doesn't match the invoices. An EIN paid for through a third-party site that charged $300 for a free IRS form. None of these are catastrophes. All of them cost hours and money to unwind later.
The order matters more than any single step. You need the entity before the EIN, the EIN before the bank account, the bank account before you invoice, and the name locked before you buy a domain or print anything. Done in sequence it takes a couple of weeks. Done out of order it becomes a loop of waiting on a document you needed two steps ago — which is where most people stall out and stay stalled for months.
There's also a credibility layer that new owners underestimate. A registered entity, a matching domain, a real name@yourbusiness.com address, and a complete Google Business Profile are what make a stranger comfortable handing you a deposit. Customers can't evaluate your craftsmanship before they hire you. They evaluate whether you look like a business that will still exist next month.
What's at stake
Consistency across every record
Your legal name, listing, domain, email, and invoices should match exactly. Mismatches cause bank holds, insurance headaches, and weaker local search.
Don't pay for free things
An EIN costs nothing from the IRS. We walk you through the real form instead of a service that upsells you a registered agent you may not need.
Renewals sneak up
Annual reports, business tax receipts, and domain renewals have deadlines with penalties. They belong on a calendar, not in your memory.
Momentum is fragile
The gap between 'I'm going to start a business' and actually launching is where most ideas die. A dated plan closes it.
Who this is for
- First-time owners going from side work to a registered business
- Partners who need clean structure before taking on real clients
- Anyone who has been "about to file" for six months
- Owners who filed but never finished the accounts, email, or profiles
When we'd tell you no
Complex multi-member operating agreements, tax elections, and licensing disputes belong with a Florida attorney or CPA. We'll flag when you've reached that line.
What you get
- Launch checklist built for you
- One document, ordered by dependency, showing what to do, in what order, and what each step typically costs.
- Entity setup guidance
- A walkthrough of the Sunbiz filing process for an LLC or corporation, including registered agent and name availability considerations.
- EIN application guidance
- We walk you through the free IRS application so you have your EIN the same day — you should never pay a third party for this.
- Licenses and registrations list
- County business tax receipt, sales tax registration, and industry-specific requirements identified for your county and trade.
- Domain and professional email
- Domain secured in your name and a real name@yourbusiness.com inbox set up, with your signature and forwarding configured.
- Accounts and vendor setup
- Google Business Profile, business bank prep checklist, invoicing tool, and phone number — created, named consistently, and documented.
- Credentials document
- One secure record of every account, login location, and renewal date, so nothing lives only in your head.
- Launch plan
- A dated plan for going public: site live, profiles complete, first review requests, first outreach.
Why First Mile Studio
Why owners hand us this part of the business
We're a small Tampa shop. That shapes how we work more than any list of features could.
- 01
We sit with you while you file
The filings happen live on a call, in your browser, under your name. Nothing gets left in a tab for three weeks and nothing about your ownership is muddied by a middleman.
- 02
We know where the line is
Administrative setup, sequencing, and accounts are ours. Operating agreements, tax elections, and licensing disputes belong to an attorney or CPA, and we say so out loud rather than guessing.
- 03
We do the digital half too
Most formation services stop at the state filing. We keep going into domain, professional email, Google Business Profile, invoicing, and phone — the parts you actually use every day.
- 04
One document with everything in it
Accounts, logins, renewal dates, and confirmation numbers in a single organized record, so your business doesn't live in your head or a folder of screenshots.
- 05
Local to Florida
We work with Sunbiz, county business tax receipts, and Florida sales tax registration regularly, so the checklist reflects this state rather than a generic national template.
How the work runs
- 01
Where you actually stand
Week 1
We inventory what's done — filed, EIN, bank, domain, insurance — and what isn't. Most owners are further along in some areas and further behind in others than they think.
- 02
File and register
Weeks 1–2
You complete filings with us on the call, so nothing sits in a browser tab. We track confirmations and dates as they come back.
- 03
Set up the digital side
Week 2
Domain, professional email, Google Business Profile, invoicing, and the tools your trade expects — all under your ownership.
- 04
Organize and hand off
Week 3
Credentials document, renewal calendar, and a walkthrough so you know where everything lives and what's due when.

See the full portfolioQuestions owners ask
Business formation assistance is included in the First Step package.
Are you a law firm or accounting firm?
No. First Mile Studio is not a law firm, accounting firm, or tax advisor. Our formation help is administrative and educational, and it does not replace advice from a qualified attorney, accountant, or tax professional.
Do you file the paperwork for me?
We walk you through it, usually live on a call, and you submit the filing yourself. That keeps you as the filer of record and keeps your ownership clean.
What does the state charge?
Florida LLC filing fees are set by the state and paid directly to Sunbiz, separate from our fee. We'll confirm current amounts during your call before you file.
LLC or sole proprietor?
That's a legal and tax question, so we'll lay out the practical trade-offs and recommend a short conversation with a CPA before you decide.
I already filed — is this still useful?
Often yes. Filing is one step; the EIN, county receipt, bank, email, profiles, and renewal tracking are where new owners tend to stall.
First Mile Studio is not a law firm, accounting firm, or tax advisor. Business formation assistance is administrative and educational in nature and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney, accountant, or tax professional.
