A Shopify store that actually launches—and keeps selling

Plenty of people can drag a theme onto a Shopify trial. The stores that stall are the ones where nobody set up shipping zones, nobody wrote the product descriptions, and checkout was never tested with a real card. As an official Shopify Partner, we build stores to the platform's own standards—and we stay in your account until the first orders come through cleanly.

We build on Shopify because it handles the parts that sink DIY stores—payments, security, and hosting—without custom code. The store, the domain, and the Shopify account stay in your name from day one. If you ever bring someone else in, nothing is held back.

Why this matters

Owning your storefront is the difference between a side income and a brand

Selling through Etsy, a Facebook group, or Instagram DMs works right up until it doesn't. The marketplace changes its fee structure, an algorithm shift cuts your reach in half, or an account gets flagged and there's no phone number to call. You never had the customer list, the traffic, or the terms — you were renting all three. A store on your own domain means the audience you build is an asset you keep.

The margin math changes too. Marketplace fees, listing fees, and payment processing stack up to a meaningful slice of every order, and that slice grows exactly as your volume does. Moving even part of your sales onto your own store keeps that money, and it gives you the tools marketplaces won't: your customers' email addresses, abandoned checkout recovery, discount codes, bundles, and repeat-purchase flows.

But the reason most new stores fail isn't the platform — it's the unfinished settings behind it. Shipping rates that quietly eat the margin on every heavy item. Taxes never configured. A checkout nobody tested with a real card. Product descriptions that leave buyers with questions, so they email instead of buying. Those details are boring, invisible, and they are the entire difference between a store that takes orders and a store that sits there.

What's at stake

  • You keep the customer list

Email addresses collected on your own store belong to you and cost nothing to market to again.

  • Shipping is where margin dies

Unconfigured rates and zones are the most common reason a store sells well and still loses money.

  • Mobile checkout is the whole game

Most buyers check out on a phone. Express options like Shop Pay and Apple Pay remove the step where carts get abandoned.

  • Untested checkout is unknown checkout

Every store we launch gets real test orders run through payment, shipping, and notification emails before it goes live.

Who this is for

  • New brands selling their first product online
  • Existing shops on Etsy, Facebook, or a marketplace that need a real storefront
  • Brick-and-mortar owners adding online sales and local pickup
  • Brands with a half-built store that never quite launched

When we'd tell you no

If you need a heavily custom marketplace, subscription engineering, or a store with hundreds of thousands of SKUs, we'll tell you up front and point you to a specialist.

What you get

Store setup, done right
Shopify account structure, domain connection, policies, staff permissions, and the settings most DIY stores never touch.
Theme design built on your brand
A premium theme customized to your colors, photography, and voice—mobile first, because that's where your buyers shop.
Products and variants
Titles, descriptions, pricing, variants, SKU organization, and inventory set up so customers can actually buy without emailing you questions.
Collections and navigation
Menus and collections organized around how customers browse, not how your inventory spreadsheet is sorted.
Checkout, payments, and taxes
Shopify Payments, express options like Apple Pay and Shop Pay, and tax settings configured and tested with a real order before launch.
Shipping and fulfillment
Rates, zones, free-shipping thresholds, and local delivery or pickup where it fits—so margins don't quietly disappear.
Essential apps
Reviews, email capture, and analytics apps chosen deliberately and installed clean. We don't stack apps you'll never use.
Launch training
A recorded walkthrough covering how to add products, run discounts, read orders, and handle a refund—so you're never waiting on us for the basics.

Why First Mile Studio

Why owners hand us this part of the business

We're a small Tampa shop. That shapes how we work more than any list of features could.

  1. 01

    Official Shopify Partner

We build inside Shopify's partner program, using development stores and platform standards. That matters when you need support, add apps, or hand the store to someone else later.

  2. 02

    We finish the unglamorous settings

Shipping zones, tax configuration, policies, notification emails, staff permissions, and inventory rules. This is where DIY stores break, so it's where we spend the time.

  3. 03

    Real test orders before launch

We run live transactions through checkout, shipping, and confirmation emails, then refund them. You launch knowing the money path works, not hoping.

  4. 04

    Apps chosen, not stacked

Reviews, email capture, and analytics installed deliberately. Every extra app is another monthly fee and another thing slowing your storefront down.

  5. 05

    You run it after launch

Adding products, running a sale, issuing a refund, reading your orders — all covered in a recorded training session so you're never waiting on us to change a price.

How the work runs

  1. 01

    Week 1

Product list, collections, navigation, and page plan. You approve the structure before anything gets designed.

    Weeks 2–3

Theme customized, products loaded, checkout and shipping configured. You review a live preview, not screenshots.

  4. 04

    Test order and launch

    Week 4

We run real test orders through checkout, shipping, and notifications, then flip the store live and walk you through your dashboard.

Questions owners ask

E-commerce store builds are quoted by catalog size and complexity—book a free discovery call for exact pricing. Ongoing store updates and product content are part of Growth Partner.

What does it mean that you're an official Shopify Partner?

It means we build stores within Shopify's partner program, follow the platform's standards, and can set up development stores correctly from the start. Your store is built the way Shopify intends—which matters when you need support or add apps later.

I already sell on Etsy or Facebook. Can you move me?

Yes. We bring your products, photos, and descriptions over, organize them properly, and set up your own storefront. Marketplaces can keep running alongside it.

Can I update the store myself after launch?

That's the point. Adding products, changing prices, and running sales are all covered in your training session, with a recording you can rewatch.

What does Shopify itself cost?

Shopify bills its own subscription directly to you—we'll walk through current plan options on the call and pick the lowest tier that fits what you sell.

Do you handle product photography?

We optimize and prepare what you have and give you a shot list for anything missing. Full studio shoots we refer out to photographers we trust.

Will my store rank on Google?

Every store ships with SEO fundamentals—clean titles, descriptions, alt text, and structure. Ranking for competitive product terms is ongoing work; that's where our SEO service comes in.
